Ray Scully (born July 7, 1981 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish footballer who last played for Shelbourne. Scully primarily plays as a midfielder but also plays at right-back.

Scully began his senior career with Shelbourne as part of their under 21 squad before in 2002 he joined newly formed League of Ireland club franchise Kildare County under the guise of his former Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely. He immediately broke into Kildare's first team and helped Kildare to consecutive fifth place finishes in the First Division during their first two seasons of senior football. Scully was rewarded for his performances as he was voted Kildare County Supporters Club Player of the Season for 2003.
Scully departed Kildare County prior to the start of the 2004 season to join newly promoted Premier Division club Dublin City who were managed under John Gill. Scully once again was a regular figure in the Vikings starting XI who were struggling at the foot of the Premier Division table. Mid-way through the 2004 season John Gill was sacked by Dublin City and replaced by Roddy Collins. Collins immediately made drastic changes to City's squad and he transfer listed 14 players, including Scully.[1] Scully did not wait long to find a new club as he promptly linked up with his former club Kildare County for the remainder of the 2004 season. Just months after being released by Dublin City, Scully rejoined the Vikings who were relegated back to the First Division for 2005 and who were now managed by his former Kildare manager Dermot Keely. Scully played a pivotal role for Dublin City during their 2005 First Division campaign helping 'The Vikings' to a swift promotion back to the Premier Division following a promotion/relegation play-off victory over Shamrock Rovers.[2]
Scully was released by Dublin City after the 2005 season and ironically Scully joined the club who he helped relegate just months earlier, Shamrock Rovers. He was a regular in the Rovers for the first half of the 2006 First Division season making 12 league appearances before he was released by manager Pat Scully. He joined Rovers' promotion rivals Dundalk who were managed by his former Dublin City manager John Gill for the latter half of the 2006 season helping the Lilywhites to a 2nd place finish in the First Division. For 2007, Scully joined Waterford United managed by Gareth Cronin. Scully made 25 league appearances for Waterford but he could not prevent them from suffering relegation back to the First Division following a play-off defeat to Finn Harps.[3] He departed Waterford at the end of the 2007 season.
Following a break from League of Ireland football, Scully once again linked up with Dermot Keely, this time joining former club Shelbourne on July 27, 2009.[4] He made his Shelbourne debut as a second-half substitute during a 3-0 victory over Monaghan United at Kingspan Century Park on September 4, 2009. After been on the fringes of the first team in 2009, Scully make the breakthrough as regular starting XI player for Shelbourne in 2010 under the management of new manager Alan Mathews. Scully became a cult figure for Shelbourne after a series of impressive hard working displays including a man of the match performance in the 2010 Leinster Senior Cup final victory over Bray Wanderers.[5] Scully returned to the fringes of Shelbourne's first team in 2011 and parted company with the club mid-season. He made 46 competitive appearances for Shelbourne and scored 3 goals.
